Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin on Wednesday led hundreds of All Progressives Congress supporters in Shanono to launch the party’s campaign ahead of next Saturday’s by-election for the Shanono/Bagwai State Constituency.

The rally drew senior party figures, including the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Minister of Housing Development, Abdullahi Atta. The party’s flag was formally presented to its candidate, Ahmad Kadamu.

Barau urged voters to back Kadamu, saying an APC victory would strengthen the Federal Government’s presence in the constituency and bolster the party’s prospects in the 2027 gubernatorial and presidential elections.

Bichi expressed confidence in the party’s chances, citing the APC-led Federal Government’s record. He announced President Bola Tinubu’s approval of ₦10 billion for the construction of the Bichi–Bagwai/Shanono–Gwarzo road, describing it as one of several projects planned for the area.

Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas also voiced optimism but urged security agencies to guard against vote buying and electoral violence.

The by-election follows the death of Halilu Kundila, who represented Shanono/Bagwai in the Kano State House of Assembly, after a prolonged illness.
