FC Barcelona have confirmed the permanent signing of teenage striker Hamza Abdelkarim after activating their purchase option following a short loan spell.
The 18-year-old Egyptian forward joined from Al Ahly SC during the January transfer window and featured for Barcelona’s Juvenil A side, where he scored six goals in 11 appearances.
His performances in Spain reportedly convinced the club to secure his long-term future, with a contract running until 2029. Although the transfer fee was not officially disclosed, Spanish media estimate it at around €1.5 million plus add-ons.
Abdelkarim has also been involved with the Egyptian national team at the ongoing World Cup, featuring in matches against Belgium and New Zealand.
The signing is part of Barcelona’s continued strategy of investing in emerging international talent for their youth development system, with the club viewing the forward as a long-term attacking prospect.
