Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Bode George, has strongly condemned recent calls by anonymous groups urging Igbo people to leave Lagos, calling the campaign “arrant nonsense” and “sheer stupidity.” Speaking in Lagos during a media session on the state of the nation, George, a Lagos indigene, emphasized that Lagos has always been a welcoming city, historically embracing traders and diverse communities. He recalled the close ties between Lagos and the Igbo people, including the partnership between Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sir Herbert Macaulay. George dismissed the campaign as idiotic and urged those spreading such hate to stop, noting that the Igbo have significantly contributed to Lagos’s development. President Bola Tinubu also denounced the campaign, stating that Nigeria has no room for such ethnic divisions.
