Tragedy struck as suspected Boko Haram terrorists targeted Koshebe, Karakul, and Bulabulin communities in Borno State, leading to the brutal slaughter of at least nine farmers, while many others remain unaccounted for.
Most of the victims hailed from the Zabarmari Ward of Jere Council area and were in the fields to harvest their crops. This incident is a grim reminder of a similar attack nearly three years ago in November 2020, where approximately 73 farmers were massacred, and numerous others went missing.
Hon. Ahmed Satomi, a representative from Jere in the national assembly, expressed his deep concern over these renewed attacks, particularly against vulnerable farmers. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims and prayed for their souls to rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Efforts to locate the missing individuals are underway through the collective actions of security agencies, hunters, members of the civilian Joint Task Force, and other stakeholders.
Reports indicate that the attackers, traveling on motorcycles, divided into three groups before launching their assault on the farmers. Instead of using firearms, the terrorists opted for cutlasses and knives to carry out their brutal attacks, likely to avoid drawing the attention of nearby security personnel.
