A crucial meeting between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is underway in Abuja, aimed at preventing another nationwide strike in Nigeria’s public universities.

The meeting, led by ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke and Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman, is a response to ASUU’s recent threat to down tools over the government’s alleged failure to meet its demands.

ASUU representatives, including former presidents, are attending the meeting, which is taking place at the Federal Ministry of Education’s Conference Hall.

The government is working to address ASUU’s concerns and prevent a repeat of the previous strike, which had significant implications for the education sector.
