Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, has withdrawn from a live presidential debate scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today (Sunday).
Tinubu was previously scheduled to attend the debate alongside Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
However, in a brief post on its social media pages on Sunday evening, Arise TV, which is organising the debate in collaboration with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), announced that the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) presidential candidate, Kola Abiola, would now take part in place of Tinubu.
“Tonight, ARISE News welcomes you to series one of the 2023 Presidential Town Hall Series on Security & Economy, with the following presidential candidates – His Excellencies: Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Peter Obi (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP) Kola Abiola (PRP).

According to the organisers, the discussion will centre on the economy and security.
According to reports, Tinubu and Atiku did not confirm their attendance 24 hours before the debate, whereas Obi and Kwankwaso contacted the organisers to say they would be there.
