In a written appeal to Senate President Sen. Godswil Akpabio, an APC governorship aspirant, Hon. Dr. Joseph Ikpea, has raised concerns regarding the proposal to allow Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel to carry firearms.

In the open letter, Ikpea highlighted the existing prevalence of unauthorized firearms and stressed the importance of demilitarizing society. He questioned the benefits of arming FRSC personnel and called for a shift in focus towards promoting national unity and cooperation. Ikpea urged the Senate to reject this proposal, labeling it as “baseless.”
