The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray, has raised concerns about the impact of recent military coups in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger on regional security. Speaking at the 51st Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council, Touray highlighted challenges in implementing transition roadmaps amid worsening security situations.
He emphasized the adverse effects, revealing that millions face food insecurity, internal displacement, and closed schools. Touray pledged regional efforts for a swift return to constitutional order and outlined steps, including deploying funds for education and resilience building. Chairman Yusuf Tuggar emphasized collective strategies to address existential challenges for the well-being of citizens.
