The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, for questioning at its Abuja headquarters.
A senior source at the commission confirmed on Wednesday that Kyari was with investigators. “He is here with our investigators at the moment. This is all I can disclose for now,” the source said.
Efforts to reach EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale for an official comment were unsuccessful.
Kyari, who led the state oil firm from 2019 until his replacement in July 2024, oversaw key reforms, including NNPCL’s transition into a limited liability company.
