The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has given Defence Minister Christopher Musa seven days to provide evidence for his alleged claim that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna or publicly retract the allegation.

The demand was contained in a statement issued on Monday and signed by Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on behalf of the family.

Musa reportedly made the allegation during a live edition of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026, while discussing events during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor.

The family described the allegation as “grave” and expressed concern that the minister did not provide evidence to support the claim.

It said Musa was entitled to his views but argued that the seriousness of the allegation required credible evidence.

“In the absence of such evidence, we call on him to publicly retract the allegation through the same medium on which it was made,” the family said.

It gave Musa seven days from the date of the statement to either substantiate the allegation or issue what it described as a full public retraction and apology.

The family warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would lead it to pursue legal action.

“Failure to do so will leave the family with no option but to pursue all appropriate legal remedies available under the law in response to these unsubstantiated allegations,” it said.
