Everton opened a new chapter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Sunday, as nearly 52,000 fans witnessed the club’s first Premier League match at their new home.

Goals from Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner, both assisted by Jack Grealish on his full debut, sealed the win. Brighton, meanwhile, were left frustrated after Danny Welbeck missed a penalty and the Seagulls squandered several chances.

The result gave David Moyes a positive start to life back at Everton, though the manager has stressed the need for further reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

For supporters, the afternoon carried significance beyond the scoreline. After decades at Goodison Park — where recent years were defined by relegation battles and three trophyless decades — Everton’s move to their new stadium symbolised the hope of a fresh beginning.

The Toffees, winners of nine English league titles, now look to re-establish themselves among the country’s elite as their new era takes shape.
