The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding a fraudulent scheme operating through a fake EFCC Help Desk.

Dishonest individuals have been spreading a ‘scam alert’ via social media, often through fake calls claiming to be from the commission’s help desk.

In a statement released on Tuesday, EFCC spokesperson Mr. Wilson Uwujaren clarified that the trending ‘Scam Alert’ is entirely false.

He emphasized that the EFCC does not have such a desk and any information originating from the alleged EFCC Help Desk is fabricated.

The usage of the EFCC’s name by the perpetrators behind the Scam Alert raises suspicions of malicious intentions.

It is crucial to inform the public about this deception, as the commission cannot be held responsible if anyone falls victim to this clearly fraudulent activity.

The EFCC strongly advises the public to exercise caution and verify any dubious information directly with them.
