In a recent development, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has taken steps to auction off 152 bitcoins belonging to Mr. Woodberry, urging potential buyers to come forward and submit their claims within a limited 30-day window.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois received a filing on July 7, 2023, outlining the forfeiture order pertaining to Mr. Woodberry’s case.

Consequently, the U.S. Marshal Service will now oversee the sale of the seized cryptocurrency assets.

The forfeiture order stems from Woodberry’s involvement in wire fraud under the alias ‘Mark Kain.’

During his time in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, he orchestrated the fraudulent scheme by recruiting a minimum of four individuals to act as money mules.

Woodberry’s misdeeds caught the attention of law enforcement, leading to his arrest by Dubai authorities and subsequent extradition to the FBI in 2020.

Since then, he has been under trial in Chicago.

As part of the legal process, interested parties are strongly urged to come forward and claim the seized property within the next 30 days.

The federal authorities emphasize the importance of submitting valid documents during the registration process.

Additionally, they assure that written notifications will be provided to individuals who have expressed an interest in the property under consideration for preliminary forfeiture.
