In a distressing incident, four children were abducted in the Amako community located in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. The victims, namely Jemine Divine (4), Jemine Isaiah (2), Ugwuegbu Victor (2), and Ugwuegbu Success (4), were taken by two newly arrived female tenants on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

According to a community insider, the children were engrossed in play at their residence in Amako, accompanied by other youngsters, when the two women, who had moved in the previous day, approached them.

The women allegedly lured the kids by suggesting a visit to a nearby barbershop for a haircut.

Tragically, the women never returned, leaving the distraught children’s fate unknown.

Of the four children taken, two belong to Mrs. Chinasa, while the other two are her elder sister’s offspring.

When the mother returned from the market and discovered her children missing, she immediately contacted the local police station to file a report.

Regrettably, she admitted to having no knowledge of the names of the newly arrived tenants who had moved in on May 26, 2023.

In a related development, an anonymous source from the Amako community informed the Nigerian Tribune that the local vigilante group apprehended both the property agent responsible for bringing the women and the landlord.

However, both claimed ignorance regarding the whereabouts of the abductors.

The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, ASP Henry Okoye, verified the incident on Friday, June 2, assuring the public that investigations are underway to resolve the matter and bring the culprits to justice.
