The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has cautioned its operatives to shun drug use and refrain from unprofessional social media activity, warning that such conduct risks tarnishing the image of the organisation.

The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS6, ACM Henry Benameisia, delivered the warning during a visit to the Cross River Command in Calabar on Monday.

Benameisia stressed that appearing in uniform on social media platforms was against the Corps’ code of conduct. “Operatives should stop displaying on social media, and any staff who uses drugs must desist, as this not only endangers the life of the operative and colleagues but also damages the image of the Corps,” he said.

He reiterated the FRSC’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, cautioning officers against enriching themselves at the expense of motorists. “If they are compromised by the public, they are to collect the money, arrest the culprit, and report the bribe. Attempting to corrupt an official is an offence,” he noted, adding that evidence of bribery would be acted upon decisively.

Beyond discipline, the zonal head urged personnel to prioritise their health by subscribing to the FRSC Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO), eating well, and exercising regularly. He highlighted that the strength of any organisation rests on the wellbeing of its workforce, both in active service and in retirement.

He further encouraged officers to embrace continuous career development, avoid stagnation, and live “honest, truthful, and clean lives.”
