In response to a surge in armed robberies targeting students, Gateway Polytechnic in Sapaade, Ogun State, has temporarily closed its doors. The decision comes after a series of attacks during the past two weeks, leaving one student dead and several others injured.

The management, alarmed by the escalating violence, has mandated a two-week hiatus and introduced online classes for the affected students. Acting Registrar J. O. Popoola, in a memorandum, informed students that physical lectures are suspended, urging them to participate in virtual classes to ensure continuity.

The move follows a distressing trend of armed robberies plaguing Isara, Ipara, and Ode communities, affecting both students and residents. The institution aims to resume normal operations once the security situation is under control.
