In a shocking attack in Amaeze, Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, a man and his two sons were reportedly killed by suspected gunmen while working on their farm. Their bodies, discovered early yesterday after an overnight search, bore severe injuries and bloodstains, indicating a brutal assault.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated he had not yet received confirmation of the incident from the Ivo police division. However, the Chairman of Ivo Local Government, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, verified the tragic event and noted that security measures have been increased in response.
Nkemkanma Kama, the House of Representatives member for Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo federal constituency, condemned the killings, describing the attackers as “agents of evil.” He called on security agencies, including the Army and Police, to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly and ensure justice for the victims.
Meanwhile, in protest, Amaeze community members have blocked a key highway connecting Ebonyi to Abia and Imo states. A traveler from Abia State confirmed the roadblock, stating, “The highway was blocked to protest the gruesome killings of our sons in their farm.”
Local leaders are urging calm and asking residents to allow authorities to handle the matter, assuring that justice will be pursued.
