Gunmen suspected to be members of the terrorist group Boko Haram have killed three people and caused destruction to properties in Dabna community in Adamawa State.

The attack, which took place on Monday, saw a group of armed men on motorcycles shooting sporadically as they looted food and drug shops.

A source confirmed that civilians were killed, while one of the attackers died during a shootout with some vigilantes.

The attackers reportedly took the body of their comrade with them.

The Adamawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Nguroje, condemned the attack in a statement and assured residents that a team of policemen had been deployed to the area to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and to restore normalcy in the community.

The statement also warned that such attacks on innocent citizens would no longer be tolerated as the command values the sanctity of human lives and would take appropriate actions in accordance with the law.
