The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of 14 individuals suspected of involvement in cult-related activities. Speaking to reporters in Owerri, State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, revealed that the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation at a hideout in Irete, Owerri West Council Area.
The command, led by CP Aboki Danjuma, hailed the arrests as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against cultism and other criminal activities in the state. Among the items recovered from the suspects were a locally made single barrel pistol, two live cartridges, and other incriminating materials.
The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing investigation, with efforts underway to apprehend additional gang members and track down the source of the firearms. Commissioner of Police, Danjuma, reiterated the commitment of the command to stamp out cultism and urged parents and guardians to educate their children against involvement in such criminal acts.
