The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began distributing sensitive materials for Saturday’s Governorship Election in Ekiti on Thursday. The materials were distributed to the electoral offices across the state’s 16 local government areas at the INEC State Office in Ado Ekiti in the presence of journalists, political parties, and security agents.
Dr Adeniran Tella, the Resident Electoral Commissioner who distributed the materials, said the electoral officers would take the items to their LGAs, where they would be distributed to Registration Area Centres (RACs) and then to polling units on Saturday morning.
Tella assured voters that materials and polling officers would not be late to polling units on election day.
Tella stated that the ballot papers were color coded for each local government to prevent electoral fraud.
He also mentioned that the result sheets were tailored to each polling unit.
Tella urged all stakeholders to embrace and promote peace, noting that everything was in place for a free, fair, and credible election.
Some party agents in the center praised INEC for the openness with which the materials were distributed.
Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, ballot papers, result sheets, booklets, forms EC 8A, B, C, D,E, forms EC 4zero G, 4 zero G1 and 2 were among the materials distributed.
