President Muhammadu Buhari informed heads of security agencies and service chiefs Wednesday that it was their responsibility to track down and eradicate terrorists.
Buhari issued the charge after joining other Muslims at the Mambila Barracks Parade Ground in Abuja to celebrate Eid prayers in remembrance of Eid-el-Fitr.
Buhari said his administration would continue to make the country secure for Nigerians as he returned to the Presidential Villa after the prayers.
He stressed the need of making the country safe, particularly now that the rains have arrived, and that farmers must be guaranteed of their safety when they return to their farms, ensuring the country’s food supply.
He said, “We’ll continue to make the environment secure, especially when the rainy season is coming, so that farmers can go back to their farms and we wouldn’t have problem of food security.
“Heads of the services of Army, Navy, Air Force, Inspector-General of Police and so on, are very much aware of the situation. It’s their duties to know where the terrorists are and eliminate them.”
Regarding the upcoming general elections, the president underlined his administration’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent process.

The President simply stated, “the person Nigerians elect” when asked who he would transfer over power to in 2023.
The acting Chief Imam of Mambila Barracks, Dahiru Shua Mohammed, underlined the need of genuine repentance from sin, love for one another, forgiveness, tolerance, and persistent prayers to Allah as the weapon against the adversities of life in his sermon at the Eid ceremony.
The Imam was also emphatic that extra effort be made to observe Allah’s instructions, that patience be used at all times for his sake, and that competition in good actions for humanity, nature, collaboration, and brotherhood be maintained.
Special prayers were offered for an end to the country’s challenges, peaceful elections in 2023, and long-term national unity, stability, and prosperity.
