In a highly anticipated middleweight title rematch, UFC 287 was headlined by a showdown between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya.

Pereira, who had previously defeated Adesanya at UFC 281 to claim the title, came into the fight with a 7-2 MMA record. Adesanya, on the other hand, had a 24-2 MMA record and was looking for redemption.

The two fighters had a history outside of MMA, having previously competed against each other in kickboxing with Pereira winning both matchups.

However, tonight’s fight would be decided in the octagon.

In a back and forth opening round, Pereira appeared to have Adesanya in trouble in the second round with some brutal low kicks.

However, Adesanya countered with a huge right hand that rocked Pereira.

A second right put Pereira down and a hammer fist left him out cold, resulting in one of the nastiest KOs in UFC history.

The official result of UFC 287 was a knockout victory for Israel Adesanya over Alex Pereira in round 2, solidifying his place as the middleweight champion.
