Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, led a delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Election Monitoring Team on Tuesday to visit the Abuja residence of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate.

Jonathan was accompanied by ex-Ghanaian President, John Mahama, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, and others.

The team reportedly appealed for calm and advised that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) address concerns raised by all stakeholders.

The ECOWAS visit to Tinubu’s residence came after the same delegation met with other political candidates, including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The visit comes amid calls from major opposition parties, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for INEC to cancel the results of Saturday’s elections.

The ruling party expressed anger at Obasanjo’s statement, scolding him for not behaving like an elder statesman.

Meanwhile, the Chief Spokesman of the APC presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, criticized those calling for the resignation of the INEC chairman, stating that it was “legally wrong” to call for a change in the electoral process before the official results had been declared.
