Workers at the Secretary to the Kogi State Government’s office, the Ministry of Women Affairs, and the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs vacated their various Lokoja offices on Tuesday morning after a loud explosion was heard on their premises.

The loud explosion was heard around 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, causing panic in Lokoja, the state capital of Kogi State.

According to reports, a bomb-like object was planted in the mosque on the premises of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

According to the source, when this unknown object was discovered, security agents were dispatched to the scene to investigate.

According to the source, some police officers from the Bomb Disposal Unit examined the object and donated it. This made a loud noise, and some ministry employees and others nearby had to take cover to avoid being hit by the particles from the denoted.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Commissioner, CP Edward Egbuka, confirmed the explosion when contacted.

His words, “Yes, what happened was “we were informed of a package that looked like a bomb was left on the premises and I immediately deployed the bomb disposal unit there to assess the object.

“The object was immediately blown up, the explosion you heard was the handwork of our bomb disposing unit brought about by their efforts to blow up the object.

“Investigation has also commenced ascertaining what the object was.”
