Juventus defender Gleison Bremer will undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee, the Serie A club confirmed on Monday.

In a statement, Juventus said the Brazilian centre-back was diagnosed with the injury in Lyon earlier in the day and will undergo a selective arthroscopic meniscectomy “in the next few hours.”

Italian media report that the 28-year-old could be sidelined for around a month.

Bremer, who missed much of last season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, adds to coach Igor Tudor’s growing list of absentees, with fellow defender Juan Cabal also out after suffering a thigh injury during Juve’s 2-2 draw with Villarreal in the Champions League earlier this month.

Juventus, currently fifth in Serie A with 12 points, have drawn their last five matches across all competitions. They face newly promoted Como in the Italian top flight on Sunday.
