Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has declared that victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 16 bye-elections is “imperative,” calling on party members to put aside personal interests and work in unison to secure a clean sweep at the polls.

Speaking on Friday at the inauguration of the APC Campaign Committee for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, as well as the Basawa and Sabon Gari State Assembly bye-elections, Sani — represented by his deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe — urged party stakeholders to show total commitment, strategic thinking and unity.

“The party must come first, and the people we seek to represent must be prioritised,” he said, stressing that the campaign should be anchored on the APC’s ideals, its track record in governance, and its vision for an inclusive Kaduna State.

Balarabe praised the governor’s leadership style, which she described as fair, equitable and inclusive, with development projects spread across senatorial districts, local governments and communities. She said this approach had strengthened the APC’s appeal among voters.

She encouraged the campaign team to remind the electorate of the benefits of political alignment and to keep the needs of the people at the heart of their outreach. “The campaign should prioritise the needs and concerns of the people while highlighting the APC’s achievements and vision for Kaduna State,” she said.

Party leaders at the event echoed the call for unity, warning that political ambitions could not be realised without a strong party platform.

APC State Chairman, retired Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada, said members of the campaign committee were chosen for their proven track records and urged them to remain focused. The committee chairman, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Yusuf Liman, pledged that “all hands would be on deck” to ensure victory in the polls.
