Kano State Government issued a stern warning to counterfeit product dealers, emphasizing that those caught will face severe consequences.

The cautionary message was delivered by Alhaji Sani Abbas, the State Commissioner of Commerce, during his inspection of a factory located at the Tokarawa industrial site.

In a statement released by Sabo Yahaya Aliyu, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Consumer Protection Council, the Commissioner expressed the government’s unwavering stance against the influx of fake, substandard, and damaged goods that threaten to turn the state into a dumping ground.

He stressed that despite Kano’s status as a bustling commercial hub, it should not serve as a platform for the introduction of adulterated merchandise.

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring orderliness in our markets by safeguarding the rights of consumers and producers,” said the Commissioner. “The current administration is determined to enforce ethical practices among manufacturers and producers.”

The Commissioner further cautioned that henceforth, individuals found guilty of engaging in the sale of products capable of posing health hazards to consumers will face the full weight of the law.

Alhaji Sani Abbas also disclosed that the government will soon outline a comprehensive plan to facilitate smooth business operations in Kano.

During the visit, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Iliyasu, the acting Managing Director of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council, spoke about the objective of establishing collaboration between the Council and manufacturers.

The purpose was to foster mutual understanding and reinforce their commitment to quality.

In addition, Alhaji Abdullahi Sa’id, the Managing Director of Soviet Nigeria Limited, praised the Commissioner and the Council for their visit, recognizing the positive impact it would have on enhancing their services.
