Followers of controversial Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka took to the streets of Umuchigbo in Enugu metropolis on Sunday to protest the ban on the priest’s Adoration Ministry Enugu.

Following the priest’s scathing remarks on Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga, banned all priests and Catholic faithful from attending Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry on Saturday.

Mbaka said at his Adoration Grounds on Wednesday that Obi would never be President because he is a stingy man, adding that the politician is cursed.

The priest’s remarks drew harsh criticism from a variety of sources, prompting the under-fire priest to retract his remarks and apologize for defaming Obi and injuring his supporters.

Despite this, Bishop Onaga barred Catholic faithful from attending his Adoration until the Diocese’s due canonical process was completed.

Bishop Onaga explained that the decision was made because some of Fr Mbaka’s teachings and utterances at the Catholic Adoration Ministry were inconsistent with Catholic Church teachings and faith.

However, less than 24 hours after the ban on Mbaka’s Adoration, his supporters gathered at the Adoration ground on Sunday morning and launched a massive protest against Bishop Onaga.

Protesters chanted unprintable names as they condemned the Bishop.
