The Nasarawa State Police Command claims to have apprehended Hassan Hassan, a member of the Book Haram terrorist organization who recently escaped from the Kuje correctional facility.

DAILY POST recalls that terrorists on Tuesday attacked the Kuje medium custodial centre and freed over 800 inmates including members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) (ISWAP).

As a result, the Federal Government declared 64 of the inmates facing terror-related charges wanted on Friday, with their names and other information made public.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, the Boko Haram escapee was apprehended in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the statement, “Sequel to the attack on Kuje Maximum Custodial Center and subsequent escape of inmates, one Hassan Hassan ‘M’, whose name and picture was among the escaped inmates with Boko Haram/Terrorism Case, was recaptured by the Eagle-eyed Police operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command at Keffi on July 9th, 2022 at about 0130 hrs.

“The suspect will be moved to a safer location while a thorough search is conducted for other escapees and the process of turning over the arrested inmate is carried out, according to Police Commissioner CP Adesina Soyemi.

“However, the Commissioner of Police appreciated the efforts of the Police officers for a job well done and reassured the public of the Command’s unrelenting efforts to make the public space safer for everyone,” according to the police report.
