President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s number one citizen, is expected to appoint Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today.
This comes after Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad resigned due to health issues.
Justice Ariwoola is currently the Supreme Court’s most senior justice.
He is expected to be sworn in today by 2 p.m., according to presidential sources.
Justice Ariwoola, who was born on August 22, 1958, was previously a Justice of the Court of Appeal before being elevated to the Supreme Court bench.
