A fire broke out early this morning at the Kogi State House of Assembly complex in Crusher Area, Lokoja.

The fire ripped through the Chamber’s roof, causing extensive damage to the house floor.

The House Speaker, Mathew Kolawole, and the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, were among the first to arrive at the assembly complex.

No one has been able to determine the cause of the fire as of the time of filing this report.

The Speaker of the Assembly stated that he suspects sabotage but did not specify where the sabotage may have originated.

When asked if it was related to the recent incident between the Assembly and the Dangote group, he said it was up to security to determine.

The speaker said “We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward.”

However, a source who did not want his name published said he suspected an explosion but couldn’t say who was to blame.
