Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force following allegations of impropriety during the recently concluded supplementary gubernatorial polls in the state.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement by the force public relations officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had called for the investigation and arrest of Barrister Ari.

The police team, which made the arrest on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023, is currently interrogating all officials and individuals involved in the saga.

The Inspector-General of Police has given his assurance that justice will be served in this case, and all guilty parties will face the full wrath of the law.

In a letter to the Police and DSS, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari had accused two national commissioners of working secretly with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the results of the supplementary election on March 15.
