Abuja, Nigeria – Bola Tinubu, the President-elect of Nigeria, engaged in a meeting with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in Abuja on Tuesday.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters of mutual interest between Nigeria and the Tony Blair Institute for Good Governance.

In a tweet, Tinubu expressed that the discussion revolved around “areas of mutual interest and how Nigeria can further benefit from the remarkable work undertaken by the Institute.

The Tony Blair Institute for Good Governance is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting democracy, good governance, and human rights worldwide.

Tinubu’s meeting with Blair comes as he prepares to take office as Nigeria’s 16th president on May 29.

He emerged victorious in the February 2023 election, defeating the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Furthermore, United States President Joe Biden has announced the composition of his delegation attending Tinubu’s inauguration.

The delegation will be led by Mary Beth Leonard, the US Ambassador to Nigeria.

Over 65 world leaders, including Heads of State, have received invitations to attend Tinubu’s inauguration ceremony.

The inauguration festivities will commence on Thursday with the official investiture of Tinubu as the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic and the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima, as the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.

Dignitaries from Nigeria’s traditional allies, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, and numerous others, are expected to be present at this prestigious event.
