The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred in Majiya, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, which claimed over 100 lives.

In a statement signed by its President, Prince Williams Akporeha, and General Secretary, Afolabi Olawole, the union offered its condolences to the families and communities affected by the disaster.

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of over one hundred precious lives, the destruction of properties, and the injuries sustained by many others in this devastating incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones during this highly traumatic time,” the statement read.

NUPENG also praised the efforts of emergency responders who managed to control the fire and rescue several injured victims. The union called on authorities to ensure proper medical care for survivors and implement measures to prevent future tragedies.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families find the strength to endure this terrible loss,” NUPENG added.
