Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two individuals in connection with cult-related activities in Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. The suspects, Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola, were apprehended by the state’s Anti-Robbery Squad on August 8, 2024, following a tip-off from residents in the Ijoko area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the suspects were among a group of individuals identified as members of the Eiye Confraternity, who had gathered at a location in Ijoko. Upon noticing the approaching police squad, the group attempted to flee, but Salami and Adeola were captured.

During interrogation, Destiny Adeola confessed to being initiated into the Eiye Confraternity in 2022 at Atan-Ota. The police are currently intensifying efforts to apprehend other members of the group who managed to escape.

Items recovered from the scene include a toy silver pistol, locally made amulets, and suspected Indian hemp. The police continue to investigate the matter and are committed to curbing cult-related activities in the state.
