Unidentified gunmen abducted and threw some of their victims off a bridge into a drainage channel.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Alor, Anambra State’s Idemili South Local Government Area.

The victims were said to have been kidnapped along the Nnobi-Nnewi Road and taken to Alor before being thrown into the Obiaja River.

A video that is currently trending on social media shows one of the abductees telling men from the Tiger Squad Local Vigilantes in Alor about his ordeal.

Benjamin Okafor, the victim, said he was driving to his hometown of Amichi in the Nnewi South LGA with one other person when they were abducted around 9 p.m.

He claimed that the abductors threw him down after driving halfway into the 20-foot-high bridge, and that he landed on a cement base.

The second victim did not survive the fall, as his lifeless body was discovered in the drainage, surrounded by floodwaters and pebbles.

The surviving victim was also injured to varying degrees.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The man was rescued and he is currently receiving treatment in a hospital. He was later identified and united with his family members. Meanwhile, the second victim has been taken to a morgue and investigation has since commenced.”
