In a shocking daylight theft that’s raising serious questions about security in Abuja, criminals stole a black Toyota Hilux Escort vehicle belonging to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) during Juma’at prayers on Friday.

Sources say the vehicle was parked around 1:05 pm opposite the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) complex in Area 10, while the official using it went to pray at a nearby mosque. When he returned, the vehicle had vanished.

Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident on social media (X, formerly Twitter), saying the theft was reported to the Garki Police Station around 2:00 pm. Police quickly responded and have launched a full investigation.

The FCT Police Command has now started a stop-and-search operation at all checkpoints and entry/exit points in the city to try and catch the thieves and recover the vehicle. A police spokesperson said, “We are using all available resources to find the suspects and bring them to justice.”

Officials say the incident is a serious warning, showing that even high-security areas in the capital may not be as safe as they seem. The police are working hard to calm public fears and boost confidence with a quick and visible response.

People living in or traveling through Abuja are being asked to stay alert and report anything suspicious to the police while the search continues.
