Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as Nigeria’s new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
Oluyede, a native of Ikere-Ekiti, previously served as the Chief of Army Staff before his elevation.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, the governor described the appointment as “a well-deserved recognition of excellence and integrity.”
Oyebanji praised President Tinubu for acknowledging the leadership qualities of the Ikere-born officer, adding that Oluyede embodies “the Ekiti values of courage, loyalty, and integrity.”
He expressed confidence that the new CDS would bring his wealth of experience to bear in strengthening national security and repositioning the armed forces.
“The government and people of Ekiti State are profoundly grateful to President Tinubu for this honour. We are confident that Gen. Oluyede will distinguish himself in his new role,” Oyebanji said.
He further assured the general of the state’s full support as he assumes the nation’s top military position.
