In the aftermath of the dissolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State, various transport groups have joined forces to foster peace and advancement.

Former Deputy Governor Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja and Senator Ayoola Agboola have also emphasized the importance of peace.

Representatives from different transport groups came together at a Town Hall Meeting convened by the state government to seek long-term solutions to the Park Management System issue.

During the meeting, which included representatives from the government, transport operators, civil organizations, community leaders, and security agencies, a communique was issued.

The communique proposed the establishment of an interim management/caretaker committee, led by a technocrat appointed by the governor.

The committee would consist of members drawn from verified transport operative groups as well as government representatives from various sectors.

Its responsibilities would include revenue collection and the profiling of all operators in the state.

Additionally, the stakeholders suggested the creation of an office within the state secretariat for the committee’s operations.

They recommended a three-month test run of the system, followed by the preparation of an operational report for the government.

Furthermore, the stakeholders emphasized the need for a succession plan and adequate security measures for the committee’s operations.

Expressing their appreciation for Governor Makinde’s efforts to improve the state’s livability and business environment, the stakeholders pledged to work together peacefully as a team.

At the meeting, the representative of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner Akinade Adejobi, delivered a stern warning to individuals possessing illegal arms within the PMS.

Such individuals were urged to surrender their weapons to the police or face legal consequences.
