The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced another postponement of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, initially slated for November 28, 2024.
This decision, conveyed through a public notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, cited the funeral of Akwa Ibom’s late First Lady, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, as the reason for the rescheduling. The funeral is set to take place from November 27 to 29.
The statement explained, “The National Working Committee (NWC), after deliberation, resolved to allow party leaders to join Governor Pastor Umo Eno in mourning his late wife. A new date for the 99th NEC meeting will be communicated in due course.”
The postponement marks the fourth time the meeting has been rescheduled this year, having been previously shifted from August to September, then October, and most recently, November.
The repeated delays come amid internal party challenges, further fueling speculation about unresolved issues within the PDP. The NWC expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the latest change, urging members to remain patient as the party navigates its ongoing crises.
