Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, working with local vigilantes, have arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted persons in Nasarawa State.
The operation took place at kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages, both in the Lafia East Development Area. The victims—two females and one male—were rescued unhurt, treated, and reunited with their families.
In a statement issued in Lafia, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the operation followed a complaint received on January 7, 2026, that armed men had invaded Angara village, abducted two women, abandoned an infant, and later kidnapped another male resident.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the suspects, leading to their arrest and the successful rescue of the victims.
According to the police, the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The commissioner assured residents of Nasarawa State that the command would sustain its offensive against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
