Pope Francis expressed concern and offered prayers for Nigeria amidst escalating violence and insurgent activities, particularly addressing the recent tragic events in Plateau State.

The pontiff urged collective prayers for the victims and called for divine intervention to end the horrors plaguing the country.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pope Francis also extended prayers to those affected by a tanker truck explosion in Liberia.

The octogenarian pontiff broadened his prayers, encompassing various conflict zones globally, including Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Sudan, and the Rohingya, urging stakeholders to heed the voice of conscience in resolving these crises.

The recent attacks in Plateau State, claiming over 200 lives, have sparked national and international attention, with concerns raised about the assailants not being repelled by security forces.
