Pope Francis is on the road to recovery following his recent hernia operation, according to his doctors.

The 86-year-old leader of the Catholic Church underwent a three-hour surgery at Rome’s Gemelli hospital on Wednesday.

This procedure marked the latest in a series of health treatments for the pontiff.

Medical professionals attending to Pope Francis revealed that he is not experiencing any fever and has successfully completed respiratory physiotherapy.

During his convalescence, the pope enjoyed a lunch gathering with his support team, including doctors, nurses, and members of the Vatican gendarmerie.

To allow ample time for recovery, all scheduled papal audiences have been canceled until June 18.

However, the resilient pontiff resumed work from his hospital room on Friday, demonstrating his commitment to fulfilling his duties.

The hernia, located at the site of a previous surgery scar, had been causing discomfort for Pope Francis.

During Wednesday’s operation, he underwent general anesthesia while surgeons repaired the abdominal wall using a surgical mesh.
