The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) interview for the promotion of qualified Police Inspectors to the rank of Unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP 2) will begin on Monday, May 19, 2025, across the 17 Police Zonal Command Headquarters nationwide.

In a statement issued by the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission described the DSB interview as a crucial requirement for career progression within the Nigeria Police Force.

PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.) affirmed that Commission staff would be deployed to supervise the exercise alongside Nigeria Police Force (NPF) officers, with strict measures in place to uphold transparency and meritocracy.

Argungu issued a strong warning against any form of financial inducement or unofficial levies during the process. “The Commission will deal ruthlessly with any Police Officer or Officers found attempting to induce or compromise the process,” he stated, vowing that violators would face severe sanctions and public disgrace.

He acknowledged reports of past corrupt practices, including the collection of contributions from candidates for supervisors, and said the PSC is determined to eliminate all discreditable conduct from the promotion process.

“Promotion and its processes in the Nigeria Police Force will henceforth be based strictly on merit and the availability of vacancies,” Argungu emphasized, calling on candidates to prepare thoroughly and approach the interview with confidence.

The PSC reaffirmed its commitment to restoring integrity in police promotions, aiming to build a police force that is professional, disciplined, and equipped to uphold law and order across Nigeria.
