Port Harcourt, The Rivers South-East Advocacy Forum (RSEAF) has strongly condemned the recent petition by the Conscience of Ogoni People (COOP) to the Senate President, urging the declaration of Senator Bari Mpigi’s seat vacant.
Describing the petition as “a pathetic display of misinformation and a clear case of political mischief,” RSEAF described COOP’s claims as “absurd, demonstrating a blatant disregard for facts and the Senator’s outstanding performance.”
Senator Mpigi has an impressive track record, including several new bills and constitutional amendments submitted, crucial amendments that improve the lot of host communities and address the differential price of petroleum products, and leadership roles in the Senate.
“COOP’s assertion that Senator Mpigi has been absent for over five months is a gross fabrication,” RSEAF stated. “The Senator has been actively engaged in legislative duties, representing his constituents with distinction.”
The revival of the East-West Road project, a critical socio-economic passage in the country, is a direct result of Senator Mpigi’s tireless efforts, RSEAF noted.
“It’s ironic that the author of this misguided petition hails from Khana LGA, where Senator Mpigi has implemented numerous projects, including:
– Building 6 classroom block in Community Secondary School Baen
– Donation of Computers to Birabi Memorial Grammer School Bori
– Donation of Transformer to Uegwere-Boue
– Donation of Transformer to Kono-Boue
– Donation of Transformer to Bori
– Installation of All-in-One Solar Street lights in Birabi Memorial Grammer School Bori
– Donation of Borehole water in Baen Community
– Installation of All-in-one Streetlights in Baen Community
– Building of farmers market in Beere Community
– Installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights Bori Market
– Installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights on council lodge road
– Ongoing installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights in Kpean Community
– Ongoing installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights in Kaani Community
– Ongoing installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights in Bangha Community
– Ongoing installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights in Sogho Community
– Ongoing installation of All-in-one Solar Streetlights in Community Primary School Opuoko Community
– Skill acquisition and empowerment Program
– Facilitation of Employment into Federal Civil Service Commission
But Senator Mpigi’s impact extends far beyond Khana LGA, with numerous projects and initiatives in other parts of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District.
“We urge the Senate President to disregard COOP’s misinformed petition, recognizing it as a mere political gimmick,” RSEAF concluded. “Senator Mpigi’s outstanding performance and dedication to his constituents are undeniable. The people of Rivers South-East Senatorial District have never had it better, thanks to his tireless efforts.”
