Veteran Fuji singer Saheed Osupa has described Burna Boy’s recent praise of him as the “GOAT singer” as a landmark moment for Fuji music and Nigerian cultural heritage.
During a GOAT Talk conversation with retired tennis star Roger Federer, Burna Boy said he preferred the Fuji genre and singled out Osupa as his all-time greatest singer.
Responding in a statement, Osupa said the recognition not only celebrates his personal journey but also highlights Fuji’s enduring influence across generations.
“Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence,” he wrote.
He added that the gesture “shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide” and thanked Burna Boy for the “powerful acknowledgment from a true Afropop titan, the African Giant himself.”
Osupa also expressed admiration for Burna Boy, saying he looked forward to attending one of his concerts to reciprocate the gesture.
“The journey continues, stronger and more radiant than ever,” he said.
