The home of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah in Anambra was unusually quiet on Saturday as locals trickled in to confirm the news of his passing. Ubah, who represented Anambra South District, died in London at age 52.

A visit to his residence in Umuanuka, Otolo Village, Nnewi by a correspondent revealed locked gates and heavy security. Staff members were seen gathered in small groups, grieving the loss of their employer.

An anonymous staff member and local youth highlighted Ubah’s impact on the community through his philanthropic efforts and youth empowerment initiatives, calling him their pillar.

Obinna, a motorcycle operator, described Ubah’s death as a heavy blow, noting his contributions to local security and peace by supporting and equipping local vigilance operatives. “He made life comfortable for us in Nnewi. He took our security as a priority,” Obinna said.
