The Plateau Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended seven suspects for vandalizing railway tracks and slippers in the state.

Commandant Alexander Barunde, while parading the suspects in Jos, disclosed that they were apprehended in Kwakwi community, Riyom Local Government Area, following intelligence reports from concerned community members.

According to Barunde, the seized items include sixty pieces of railway tracks, thirty slippers, and other materials, all found loaded in two trucks en route to an undisclosed destination.

He stated, “My men apprehended and brought them here for interrogation. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

However, one of the suspects, Ahmed Mohammed, claimed ignorance about the vandalism, asserting that they were merely contracted to transport the items.

This development coincides with the state government’s efforts to revive rail mass transit within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis, underscoring the importance of safeguarding railway infrastructure for public transportation and economic development.
