Stakeholders in the education sector have pegged the minimum benchmark score for admission into universities at 140.

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede said the decision was made at the ongoing policy meeting in Abuja.

Oloyede explained that the benchmark score is not a uniform cut-off mark for all universities, but it represents the lowest score that any university can consider for admission.

He also cautioned Nigerians against misinformation regarding JAMB’s role in setting cut-off marks, stating the distinction between the minimum benchmark and individual university cut-off marks.
