President Bola Tinubu has expressed his administration’s readiness to adopt successful global practices to boost Nigeria’s economic growth, emphasizing that there is no shame in learning from other countries.

Speaking during a meeting with an Airtel delegation led by Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu highlighted plans to review the telecoms sector’s regulatory framework to align with international standards and enhance infrastructure protection.

“We are prepared to learn. We are not ashamed of copying what is working in other climes,” Tinubu said. “Nigeria is so critically important that we must focus on revolutionary intentions that can make businesses thrive. I am pro-business, and I will continue to be that.”

He assured the telecom giant of his administration’s commitment to tax reforms that would create a favorable environment for investors.

Mittal, drawing parallels between Nigeria’s current economic situation and India’s transformative reforms in 1991, praised Tinubu’s bold decisions, including floating the naira and removing fuel subsidies.

“These reforms have set Nigeria on a path to economic revival,” Mittal said. “Only leaders with resolve and steel can endure this pressure. Your first term as president will mark a watershed in Nigeria’s development.”

Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, lauded the president’s support for the telecoms sector, noting that measures to protect critical infrastructure, such as fibre optic and undersea cables, are already being enforced by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

With Nigeria’s economic landscape shifting, Tinubu’s pro-business stance and willingness to adopt global best practices may signal a new chapter of growth and opportunity for the country.
